I would like this site to serve sojourning English language teachers (ELTs), their educators, and those interested in teaching English abroad either as a prospective ELT or as a researcher like me. The first purpose of this site is to serve as a resource to help sojourning ELTs better understand their contexts and what they bring to those contexts. The second is to initiate or join in a dialog about the many implications that come with teaching English abroad.
As a burgeoning researcher in education, I believe it is important to write to a wide variety of audiences. Inspired by my first teaching experience and the recent developments in e-learning, this site is an exercise to communicate with English language teachers who may have limited access to or limited interest in research. Finally, I hope that this site helps sojourning ELTs to decide if it is worth their time and money to participate in professional development activities and to enroll in graduate programs in TESOL or related fields.
